Meet our Pastor, Dr. Donald Thomas Satterwhite and his wife of 40 years) MarieSatterwhite. Pastor Don (as he prefers to be called) was born in Tallahassee and raised in Tampa. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Florida Bible College and earned his Master of Divinity and his Doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor Don has been in ministry since 1975 and has served as a pastor and youth minister in Florida, Alabama, Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland and most recently served as pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Litchfield Connecticutt. His passion is to serve as God leads in the work of the ministry.
His greatest joy is to see people understand the gospel of God's grace and trust Jesus Christ alone as their only hope for Heaven. He desires to lead the church to be intentionally missional, fulfilling Acts 1:8. He desires to preach the Bible in a way that people can understand it and apply it to their daily lives. He believes a pastor has been given the responsibility to encourage and equip God's people to do the work of the ministry.
Pastor Don comes from a family of ministers-having three brothers who serve as Southern Baptist ministers and a sister who teaches in a Christian School in Miami and is married to an ordained minister. His wife, Marie, is a licensed professional counselor at Hope Christian Counseling Agency in Winter Haven. Pastor Don says that wherever they go, they go as a team in ministry.
They are the proud parents of three grown children, Paul Daniel, an attorney in Missouri and the father of grandson, Graham, and granddaughters, Lena and Clara. Daughter, Rachel Ann, served five years as a missionary in Thailand and is now living in Missouri and married to Brent Swickard. Their oldest daughter, Jessica, is married to Rhye Gray and the mother of granddaughter, Ariana. Jessica graduated with her PHD from LSU in Theatre, is a professional educator and lives in Worcester, MA.
Pastor Don is a "people person" with an evangelistic heart. He is available if you need to talk or just stop by to say hello. Just call the church office if you need an appointment. (863-534-1195)
